“History, art, and knowledge lovers might want to clear their schedules for Saturday, September 22. For one day only, entry to more than 1250 museums will be granted to anyone who downloads a free ticket, My Modern Met reports.

The offer is part of Smithsonian Magazine’s annual Museum Day, which celebrates the educational service provided by cultural institutions across the country. This year, the theme will pay tribute to “Women Making History,” and participating museums will tackle this topic in different ways. The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts in Texas, for instance, is hosting an exhibition that explores “women’s status and roles in American society as reflected in fashion,” according to a Museum Day description.

Each state has at least one museum that’s taking part in Museum Day, and New York City alone has over a dozen participating museums. To get your free general admission ticket, which admits two people, head to Smithsonian Magazine’s website and click on the museum you’d like to visit. You can search by zip code or state, or enter the name of a specific museum into the search bar at the top.”
